As part of Melbourne’s West Gate Tunnel Project, there will be further Footscray Road disruptions, which will impact port access:

  1. The westbound carriageway of Footscray Road, between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road, will reopen at 7 am on Saturday, 27 May 2023.
  2. At the same time, the eastbound carriageway of Footscray Road, between Dock Link Road and Appleton Dock Road, will be closed again from 8 pm on Friday, 26 May, until 5 am on Friday, 16 June 2023.

This means, during the transition period, Footscray Road will be completely closed in both directions from 8 pm on Friday, 26 May, until 7 am on Saturday, 27 May 2023, to facilitate the traffic flow changes.
 
Important Information about Footscray Road / Dock Link Road Intersection:

There is a significant long-term change at the intersection of Footscray Road and Dock Link Road. Starting from Friday, 26 May, left and right turns at Dock Link Road from the westbound lanes of Footscray Road will be prohibited.

To accommodate westbound heavy vehicles, a detour route has been designated. Heavy vehicles must follow the detour route via Appleton Dock Road, Mullaly Close, Intermodal Way, and Dock Link Road to reach their destination at Dock Link Road.

Alternatively, westbound heavy vehicles can make a U-turn from Footscray Road at the Linfox entrance and proceed east on the Footscray Road service lane. They can then turn right into Dock Link Road (southbound).
