As you may be aware, Kiwirail has announced a planned rail line closure between December 27th and January 27th to facilitate necessary upgrade works. This closure will impact several services, including Metroport operations between Auckland and the Port of Tauranga.
During this period, rail services will operate between the Port of Tauranga and Hamilton only, with a road bridging service connecting Hamilton to Metroport. Kiwirail has assured cargo owners that re-routing freight is unnecessary, as the road bridging service will ensure continuity of transport.
However, due to the potential for delays during this time, we wish to advise that Kerry Logistics Oceania will have capacity available to assist with road transport for urgent container movements between Tauranga and Auckland.
To ensure smooth planning and minimize disruptions, we strongly recommend pre-booking urgent movements as early as possible. While we will make every effort to accommodate last-minute requests, priority will be given to pre-planned shipments.
Important Notes:
- Once containers are in transit via Metroport, we will not be able to intervene mid-journey to expedite delivery.
- Urgent road movements must be pre-arranged, especially for imports, which should be scheduled at least 48 hours prior to vessel arrival.
Please reach out to your usual contact at Kerry Logistics Oceania to discuss any specific requirements or to arrange priority movements. We are here to support you during this transition period.
We will continue to monitor the situation, and as always, we will notify you of any impacted deliveries. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
