Cyclone Remal is set to hit between West Bengal’s Sagar Island and Khepupara near Mongla between 6:00pm and 10:00pm, per the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

At noon, the cyclone was 335 km southwest of Chattogram port, 315 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar, 220 km south of Mongla, and 200 km south of Payra.

Rain and gusty winds are affecting coastal regions. BMD has issued Great Danger Signal No. 10 for Mongla and Payra ports. Winds near the cyclone center are 90-120 kph, with high seas expected.

Coastal districts under Signal 10 include Khulna, Satkhira, Bagherhat, and others, while Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar are under Signal 9.

A surge of 8-12 feet above normal tide is likely in affected coastal areas. Rajshahi, Rangpur, and other divisions will experience heavy rain and gusty winds, with possible landslides in hilly areas.

Fishing boats and trawlers are advised to stay in shelter until further notice.
