Please be informed of the following update from the Fremantle Port Authorities – Harbour Master, regarding the current adverse weather conditions:
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Gale Warning for the Perth coast, Perth Local waters, and Lancelin coast, effective from August 22, 2024. Additional adverse weather is expected over the weekend.
In response to these conditions and to ensure the safety of port, terminal infrastructure, and vessels, the following measures will be implemented:
- Vessels at Outer Anchorages: Vessels are advised to heave anchor and proceed to sea during the period of impact.
- Vessels at Outer Harbour Terminals: All vessels will be required to evacuate their berths in the order scheduled by Fremantle Ports’ schedulers. Charges for unberthing/berthing pilotage and towage will be the responsibility of the vessel. Vessels may return to berth once weather conditions improve.
- Inner Harbour Vessels: Depending on the forecast wind direction, certain vessels may be allowed to remain at their berths.
- Preparation Timeline: Preparations for the adverse weather began on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. The above conditions will be lifted once weather conditions improve.
- Port Approaches: Vessels evacuating the port are required to stay well clear of Fremantle Ports’ approaches and surrounding coastal areas.
Additionally, please be reminded that the previously announced Industrial Action is scheduled to commence at 5:30 AM on Sunday, August 25, 2024, for a 48-hour period.
