Biosecurity New Zealand is stepping up their actions to protect New Zealand from Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).
Please see explicit instructions regarding containers ex-Indonesia:
If you import containers from Indonesia, you will be emailed a Biosecurity Authority Clearance Certificate (BACC) stating ‘Indonesia FCL (or FAK) verification. External inspection/6-sided and supervised unpacking required and must be unpacked under direct supervision of an MPI inspector by an Authorised Person (AP). Containers are not to be opened until the MPI Border Clearance Inspector is present.
These new requirements are effective immediately.
Unfortunately, the new measures may result in delays for all containers originating from Indonesia due to limitations in MPI inspection resources. MPI has advised there will be no costs on-charged for such inspections, however, additional handling and transport costs may be applicable depending on your supply chain requirements.
The Key priority for MPI is around keeping foot and mouth out of New Zealand and the support of the importing community is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your local Kerry Representative.
