Pilots represented by the Australian Maritime Officers Union (AMOU) from Poseidon Sea Pilots, the sole pilotage service provider in the Port of Brisbane, plan to stop work for 24 hours commencing at 0001 AEST on Thursday 24 August.

The AMOU is in enterprise agreement negotiations with Poseidon Sea Pilots, which is before the Fair Work Commission (FWC) for conciliation.

In June, the FWC approved a request for protected industrial action, authorising pilots to impose overtime restrictions, work stoppages, bans on using company vehicles, and performance-related prohibitions.

Potential Landside Disruptions:
Should the industrial action go forward, it could significantly hinder vessel traffic to and from the Port of Brisbane starting Thursday, 24 August. In turn, this could delay vessel arrivals, and disrupt export receival windows for vessels.
